Team Focus: Cincinnati State
The latest NJCAA Division 2 poll came out today and the Surge of Cincinnati State & Tech are rated seventh in the country at (19-3) overall. Head coach Gary McDaniel is in his second year as the men's coach at the school. Prior to that, he was the women's coach for the Lady Surge 15 years. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with coach McDaniel on some of his players' recruitment.
Trenton Calloway: (SO) 6-foot-6 (255) from Cincinnati, OH. Calloway will have to go the D2/NAIA route because of clock issues. Calloway signed out of high school to division one football but never played.

"Trenton is an old-school player. He is very hard to stop in the paint and all he cares about his just winning games. Trenton has great skills and is a load in the paint," said McDaniel.
Northern Kentucky, Metro State (CO) and Lynn University (FL) have been following Calloway this spring.
Calloway is averaging 12.7 ppg and 6.5 rebounds this season while shooting 61% (108-177) from the floor. Trenton has scored 569 career points in 48 games at Cincinnati State & Tech.
Dajuan Harris: (SO) 6-foot-3 from Cincinnati, OH.
"Dajuan is a long and quick wing player," said McDaniel.
Eastern Illinois, Bowling Green, Indianapolis and Kentucky Wesleyan have shown interest in Harris this season. Dajuan is averaging 14.6 ppg this season while shooting 51% (110-213) from the floor.
Nicholas Baynes: (SO) 6-foot-6 from Cincinnati, OH.
"Nicholas is a left-handed athletic four man that plays over the rim. He redshirted last year and played at UC-Clermont back in 2005-2006 season," said McDaniel.
Nicholas should have three years left to play after this season at the next level. Baynes is averaging 8.2 ppg and shooting 67% (71-106) from the floor this season.
Marrion Graves: (SO) 6-foot-2 from Cincinnati, OH.
"Marrion is always under the radar. He is not a flashy player but he is very solid. Graves generally guards the other team's best player and he has a great basketball IQ," said McDaniel.
Graves is averaging 6.1 ppg this season.
The Surge have two promising freshmen in Marquis Mathis and Ben Haarman. Mathis is 6-foot-8 from Columbus, OH and Haarman is a very unselfish point guard who can go out and get his own shot. Mathis is getting 11.7 ppg and 7.5 rebounds a night while Haarman is at 11.9 ppg and 5.5 assists.
