Salt Lake City Community College just recently returned from spring break following the end of their basketball season. Head coach Norm Parrish said his players are starting to focus a little bit on recruiting, but he hasn't discussed it with them much since the end of the season.
The star of the 27-and-6 SLCC team was region most valuable player Rekalin Sims. Sims averaged 19.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists on the season. Parrish says he's fielding calls pretty much daily from Division One recruiters.

"Pretty much. You get some teams that all of a sudden think they have a kid that will leave, or whatever," Parrish said. "The number is astounding, but he hasn't really narrowed it yet."
Sims will take some unofficial visits in the near future. The coach listed four programs that seem likely to get one of those trips.
"He went back home for spring break and I've talked to him on the phone a couple of times, but I couldn't tell you exactly who he'll visit," Parrish said. "The ones that have been in it the longest are Texas A&M, Kentucky, Iowa State and Arizona State."
Sims' signature will be one of the most coveted junior college signatures in the country when the late signing period opens in April. But he probably won't be the only SLCC player headed to the next level.
"Bryan Ellis is a point guard," Parrish said. "He's got a great assist to turnover ration, he's a good defender, ended up being honorable mention all-conference. He's a good solid kid."
Ellis averaged just 6.5 points per game, but dished out 5.1 assists and had just 25 turnovers in 33 games. He lists BYU, Hawaii and Idaho State among the leaders for his services.
