The action started quick and Des Moines Area Community College didn't look to slow down. The Bears defeated Hesston College (KS) 89-53 to move to 27-5 on the season.

The Bears were led in scoring by Jamar Hurdle with 18 points and Paris Collins with 14 points.

Kishwaukee College (IL) defeated Lansing Community College 82-68 in the last first round

tourney game. The Kougars 29-5 were led in scoring by third year guard Juwan Starks with 30 points. Freshman point guard Yashua Trent added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the victory.

The Stars were led in scoring freshman wing player Javon Haines with 16 points. Left-handed sophomore point guard Tracy Edmond added 12 points in the defeat.

The Stars fall into the consolation to play Hesston College.
