Atwood was recruited heavily by the Tigers before the dismissal of Tony Barbee.
Atwood had mutual interest, but what about since Barbee's firing and the hiring of Bruce Pearl?
"It's Bruce Pearl, I know that program is going to be really rockin' now. They're trying to find the right guys for the program and they are going to be good. I like Coach Pearl. He's all for winning in the SEC and he's proven winner in the SEC. He can get players to the next level," Atwood told AuburnSports.com.
"Auburn was in the mix because they were close to home. I'm originally from Memphis, I was there when Memphis didn't like him at all."
Atwood mentioned Louisville, Iowa, Wichita State, Arizona State and Florida State as top contenders. He claims no leaders.
Will Atwood visit Auburn?
"When I talk to Coach Pearl, we'll see what's going on," he said. "I'm going to wait until he's settled in and I know for a fact I'll be getting a call from him shortly.
"I'm thinking right now I'd like to visit. My family is in Memphis, so that's close."
