Three Santa Rosa JC prospects looking to move on
Craig McMillan, the head basketball coach at Santa Rosa Junior College, expects as many as three players to move to the Division 1 level next year. While there is a chance that several other players have the ability to make the jump to the next level, Travis Clegg, Eryk Thomas and Tyler Tiedeman appear to be the most likely to make the move.
Travis Clegg: Clegg is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound shooting guard/small forward from Santa Rosa, Calif.
“Travis is a player that is currently getting some inquiries from Division 1 schools,” Coach McMillan said. “I know that several coaches’ are planning to come watch him play this year. Sam Houston State and Northern Arizona are just a few of the schools that have expressed an interest in Travis.
“I would say that the number of schools interested will depend on what type of year Travis has,” he added. “He is really a player that has the ability to play the shooting guard or small forward position. Travis is extremely athletic and is a good one-on-one scorer.”
Eryk Thomas: Thomas is a 6-foot-7, 215-pound combo forward from Santa Rosa, Calif.
“Eryk is about 6-foot-6 or 6-foot-7 and weighs 215-pounds,” McMillan said. “I can tell you that a lot of schools have been calling on Eryk lately. UC Riverside, Utah State and about 20 other schools have inquired about him. Again, I think that I will have a better idea about Eryk and his recruitment once the season gets started. It all depends on how he plays throughout the year.”
Tyler Tiedeman: Tiedeman is a 6-foot-6, 205-pound shooting guard/small forward from Santa Rosa, Calif.
“Tyler is probably receiving most of the attention right now,” he said. “He is a 6-foot-6, 205-pound wing guy and shoots the ball extremely well. He had originally signed to play basketball at Arizona and did that, but injured his elbow last year. I know that CS Fullerton wants to bring Tyler in for a visit, and quite a few other schools are showing interest.
“Tyler is actually just a freshman, but I don’t see him being with us for more than a year,” he added. “I truly believe that he will sign with a Division 1 program and leave after his freshman year.”
