Warner (Okla.) Connors State star Willie Atwood took his final official visit this weekend to Arizona State and is planning to wrap up his recruitment in a hurry.
Atwood, a 6-foot-8, 215 pound power forward who earned third-team NJCAA Division I All-American honors after avearging 20.8 points and 9.0 rebounds last season, said the Sun Devils are a very strong contender.

"Man, it's going to be really tough," Atwood said. "Arizona State is just a different type of place. I love the diversity, the feel of the school, how much they made me feel wanted, like they really need me. They told me i'm a priority, to come in and be and impact with the other guys coming in where they really want me and I'll be real important.
"With (high profile junior college signees) Gerry Blakes and Roosevelt Scott coming in, if I went there it would be three Top-50 (junior college) guys. All of us have been talking back and forth about that and then just talking with (returning senior) Shaq (McKissic), he's a good dude. Just talking to coach (Herb) Sendek, they want to get this done."
If Atwood picks the Sun Devils it could give the program the best junior college class in the country in addition to a trio of high school recruits that includes Rivals150 members Tra Holder and Connor MacDougall and incoming transfer Savon Goodman, a former Rivals150 recruit.
"[Blakes and Scott] want me to come, make a team of big JUCO guys. As you know right now, I'm NO. 5 (ranked junior college recruit) in the country so I can be a big help and they said let's do it together for the JUCO guys, we can show em that we have some real players coming up and can do big things."
Atwood, who was accompanied on his ASU visit by both parents, is also strongly considering Florida State and Iowa. He is planning to speak with his coaches Monday and have a decision soon thereafter.
"I don't know if I'll sign tomorrow but I think I'll probably make a commitment tomorrow or Tuesday," Atwood said. "It's going to be tough. I can't really say right now what I'm going to do. I don't know, I just got to think about it. ASU is definitely in the running."
